I am constantly floored by costs for construction and remodels, and I have been in the industry for over a decade and completed dozens of remodels. But the fact is, costs of labor and materials are constantly increasing, causing remodels to get more and more expensive. So how much does it cost to remodel a bathroom? The only way to get an accurate projection is to complete a design package with material selections and have trades bid the labor (and even then, you need a contingency in case there are any surprises during construction- talk to your contractor about possible hidden costs and what they recommend for your contingency). Designing a bathroom is a lengthy, time-consuming process because of the level of detail and selections needed to put together an accurate proposal. Sometimes companies will give you a preliminary estimate using allowances for material costs but rarely do these costs cover the actual materials you select.
